Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about licensing, payment, delivery, and custom work.
Creation Process
Do you use AI to generate your beats?
Nope. I’m keeping a close eye on this space (as a technologist) and fully understand where things are headed with tools like Suno.ai and AceStudio.ai, but I have not been able to embrace them thus far as a composer. With that said, I will use tools that incorporate AI, such as Waves COSMOS (sample finder) or Scaler 3 (music theory), but those are assistive in nature. Case in point, the vast majority of my beats are done using Soft Synths like Kontakt and Serum. I also do all of my own drum programming. I also do not use stem separators to provide stems to you. Each stem is processed individually when I do my export out of Maschine.
The Website
Why do I need to sign up to hear full beats?
You don’t need anything to hear a beat — every beat page streams a free 30-second preview, no account. Full-length listening is for members. Every beat is sold once, to one artist, so I like to know who’s hearing it in full before they do. Being a member is free, I just have to approve your access.
How do I sign up?
Start at the sign-up page and create a free account. Then tell me a little about you: your PRO (not registered yet is fine) and a link to your music, or what you’re looking for in your own words. If I gave you an invite code, enter it and full-length listening opens right away. Otherwise I review every request myself and listen to the music you link, so it takes as long as it takes one person to listen.
Licensing & Rights
Which beats have the most room for vocals?
Ask the search box. Type something like “a beat with room to sing on” or “something I can write a hook over,” and Smart Search ranks the catalog by how much space each arrangement leaves for a lead vocal. Then press play on the previews and trust your ears.
I write my own hooks. What do I actually own?
An exclusive license isn’t a sale of the beat — I keep the copyright in the instrumental. When you write a song on it, we’re co-writers: I hold 50% of the writer’s share and 50% of the publisher’s share (through Sanktifyd Music), and you hold the other 50% of each. Mechanical royalties and sync income from the song split 50/50 the same way.
The recording you make is yours to release, and its streaming income is yours, with no cap. Release the song within 36 months (see “Is there a deadline to release my song?”). Only a separate buyout transfers the beat itself to you.
Credit reads “Produced by Moody.” Your name goes on the writing.
Is there a deadline to release my song?
Yes — 36 months from purchase. It’s a safeguard: an exclusive beat is one of one, and I’d rather it be heard than sit on a hard drive. Thirty-six months is a long runway, and I’ll do what I can to help you get the song out. If you need more time, message me before the deadline and we’ll work it out. If the song isn’t out and we haven’t agreed on more time, the exclusive rights come back to me, the beat can find another artist, and the license fee isn’t refunded. “Released” means your song, with your vocals, out on streaming platforms or physical media.
Why not just use Suno to make my beats?
I’ve heard music out of Suno.ai and I’m generally impressed, so I personally have no issues with people who want to use it. The biggest issue with it though is copyright infringement and ownership. Whether you own what Suno makes depends on your plan, and their terms keep changing. Either way, you take on all the legal risks associated with it (read their Terms of Use). Working with an actual producer avoids all of that drama. You also don’t have to mark your music as being created by AI. Lastly, and the biggest reason — Suno is more likely to copy my compositions than I’m inclined to copy Suno, so there’s that.
Will you resell this beat to anyone else?
No, it isn’t licensed to anyone else. Believe me, I’ve tried to talk myself into doing non-exclusives many times. They are cheaper and you can license it out to as many people as you want. I just couldn’t do it. So, exclusive means exclusive. The one exception is in your agreement: if the song isn’t released within 36 months and we haven’t agreed on more time, the rights come back to me. BTW, if someone is selling you an exclusive after they’ve licensed it to someone else as a non-exclusive, it isn’t really an exclusive.
What does an exclusive license include?
You receive sole rights to use the beat commercially. Once purchased, the beat is not licensed to another artist.
Do I own the master recording of my song?
The recording you make is yours to release, and its streaming income is yours, with no cap. What we share is the song itself: we’re co-writers, so publishing, mechanical royalties and sync income from the song split 50/50. The instrumental stays mine unless you buy it out.
Who owns the publishing? Do you keep any?
We split it the standard way for a co-written song: I hold 50% of the writer’s share and 50% of the publisher’s share (through Sanktifyd Music), and you hold the other 50% of each. I register my half with ASCAP, and you register yours with your PRO. Mechanical royalties split 50/50 the same way. Specific terms are in your Exclusive License Agreement. I can walk you through all of it.
Do I need to credit you?
Yes. Credit “Produced by Moody” (or “Prod. Moody”) wherever the song is released, and tag me when you post about it on social media. Full credit requirements are in your Exclusive License Agreement.
Can I monetize on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms?
Yes — unlimited streams, downloads, and monetization across all platforms. No cap on plays or revenue.
Can I use my song for sync (TV, film, ads, video games)?
Yes — your song can be licensed for sync. Sync income from the song, upfront fees and any resulting royalties, splits 50/50 with Sanktifyd Music, LLC, the same as the publishing. The beat by itself (instrumental only, without your vocals) can’t be licensed for sync by you. Only I can do that, because the beat stays mine.
Can I sublicense or transfer the beat to another artist?
No. Your exclusive license is non-transferable — it’s tied to you as the artist. If you want to own the beat outright, that’s a buyout: a separate agreement where I assign the beat to you, for a fee.
Purchase & Delivery
What payment methods do you accept?
Credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Affirm (buy now, pay later) for eligible purchases.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes — Affirm is available at checkout for qualifying orders. Choose monthly payments interest-free or low-rate based on your terms.
What do I receive after purchase?
You’ll receive a download link that contains a zip file with audio files. You’ll also have a copy of the Exclusive License Agreement.
- Mastered MP3 (tag-free)
- Reference Mix (WAV, 24-bit)
- 24-bit WAV trackouts (stems)
- Exclusive License Agreement (PDF)
Are trackouts (stems) included?
Yes. Every exclusive includes:
- 24-bit WAV trackouts — every track (individual drum sounds, bass, melody, etc.) exported separately, so your engineer can mix the song from scratch
- Song details — key, BPM, and arrangement notes
- Time-aligned stems — every file starts at the beginning of the session, so your engineer drops them in and everything lines up automatically
I export the stems raw — no volume adjustments, no mix processing applied. That way your engineer makes every mix decision (louder drums, brighter vocals, more low-end) without having to undo anything I did first. Maximum flexibility = best possible mix.
How fast is delivery?
Instant. Files can be downloaded immediately after payment confirmation.
Are sales final? Can I get a refund?
All sales are final once files are delivered. If you experience a technical issue with the files, contact me and I’ll fix it.
Custom & Offers
Can I commission a custom beat?
Yes. Reach out via the contact form with your reference, vibe, and target. I’ll respond with availability, timeline, and pricing.
Can I make an offer on a beat?
Yes — every price is negotiable. Sign in, message me from the beat page, and tell me what you’re working on.
Will you remove producer tags or alter the beat?
Producer tags are not in anything you download — I just use those on the website for preview. Changes to the beat itself (re-arrangement, key change, tempo change) can be arranged separately, just contact me and let me know what you are thinking.
How long does a custom beat take?
Typical turnaround is 7–14 days depending on the request.
