Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about licensing, payment, delivery, and custom work.

Creation Process

Do you use AI to generate your beats?

Nope. I’m keeping a close eye on this space (as a technologist) and fully understand where things are headed with tools like Suno.ai and AceStudio.ai, but I have not been able to embrace them thus far as a composer. With that said, I will use tools that incorporate AI, such as Waves COSMOS (sample finder) or Scaler 3 (music theory), but those are assistive in nature. Case in point, the vast majority of my beats are done using Soft Synths like Kontakt and Serum. I also do all of my own drum programming. I also do not use stem separators to provide stems to you. Each stem is processed individually when I do my export out of Maschine.

The Website

Why do I need a studio membership to listen to beats?

Beats by Moody is built around exclusive licensing — every beat in the catalog is sold once, to one artist, ever. Music kept that close means I want to know who’s hearing it before they hear it. A free studio membership is the gate: no marketing emails, no pressure, just a way for me to know who pulled up a chair. Once you’re in, the whole catalog opens up.

How do I sign up?

Click Step Inside anywhere on the site and enter your email. You’ll get a four-digit verification code in your inbox — type it in, and you’re a member. You can also use your social media account. Either way takes under a minute and costs nothing.

Licensing & Rights

Why not just use Suno to make my beats?

I’ve heard music out of Suno.ai and I’m generally impressed, so I personally have no issues with people who want to use it. The biggest issue with it though is copyright infringement and ownership. As of now, if you get a beat from Suno.ai, you don’t own it – they do. Additionally, you take on all the legal risks associated with it (read their Terms of Use). So getting music from me avoids all of that drama. You also don’t have to mark your music as being created by AI. Lastly, and the biggest reason —  Suno is more likely to copy my compositions than I’m inclined to copy Suno, so there’s that.

Will you resell this beat to anyone else?

No. The beat is permanently retired from the catalog the moment you complete checkout and no other artist will have rights to it. Believe me, I’ve tried to talk myself into doing non-exclusives many times. They are cheaper and you can license it out to as many people as you want. I just couldn’t do it. So, exclusive means exclusive. BTW, if someone is selling you an exclusive after they’ve licensed it to someone else as a non-exclusive, it isn’t really an exclusive.

What does an exclusive license include?

You receive sole rights to use the beat commercially. Once purchased, the beat is not licensed to another artist.

Do I own the master recording of my song?

Yes — once you record over the beat, the master of your song belongs to you. I don’t even have rights to your song. You retain full master ownership of the finished recording.

Who owns the publishing? Do you keep any?

Standard split is 50/50 publishing — you (or your publisher) own your share, and Sanktifyd Music, LLC retains 50% of the publishing on the underlying composition (the beat). Specific terms are in your Exclusive License Agreement.

Do I need to credit you?

Yes. Credit “Produced by Moody” (or “Prod. Moody”) wherever the song is released. Full credit requirements are in your Exclusive License Agreement.

Can I monetize on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming platforms?

Yes — unlimited streams, downloads, and monetization across all platforms. No cap on plays or revenue.

Can I use my song for sync (TV, film, ads, video games)?

Yes — your song is yours to license for sync. Once you’ve recorded over the beat, the master recording belongs to you.

Because the beat itself is mine, sync income is split 50/50 with Sanktifyd Music, LLC — matching the publishing split. That includes upfront sync fees and any resulting royalties.

The beat by itself (instrumental only, without your vocals) cannot be licensed for sync by you — only I can do that as the owner of the beat.

Can I sublicense or transfer the beat to another artist?

No. Your exclusive license is non-transferable. The license is tied to you as the artist. The only way you could do this is if you did what’s called a “work-for-hire” which is essentially where I transfer all ownership to you (for a fee).

Purchase & Delivery

What payment methods do you accept?

Credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Affirm (buy now, pay later) for eligible purchases.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes — Affirm is available at checkout for qualifying orders. Choose monthly payments interest-free or low-rate based on your terms.

What do I receive after purchase?

You’ll receive a download link that contains a zip file with audio files. You’ll also have a copy of the Exclusive License Agreement.

  • Mastered MP3 (tag-free)
  • Reference Mix (WAV, 24-bit)
  • 24-bit WAV trackouts (stems)
  • Exclusive License Agreement (PDF)
Are trackouts (stems) included?

Yes. Every exclusive includes:

  • 24-bit WAV trackouts — every track (individual drum sounds, bass, melody, etc.) exported separately, so your engineer can mix the song from scratch
  • Song details — key, BPM, and arrangement notes
  • Time-aligned stems — every file starts at the beginning of the session, so your engineer drops them in and everything lines up automatically

I export the stems raw — no volume adjustments, no mix processing applied. That way your engineer makes every mix decision (louder drums, brighter vocals, more low-end) without having to undo anything I did first. Maximum flexibility = best possible mix.

How fast is delivery?

Instant. Files can be downloaded immediately after payment confirmation.

Are sales final? Can I get a refund?

All sales are final once files are delivered. If you experience a technical issue with the files, contact me and I’ll fix it.

Custom & Offers

Can I commission a custom beat?

Yes. Reach out via the contact form with your reference, vibe, and target. I’ll respond with availability, timeline, and pricing.

Can I make an offer on a beat?

Yes — every product page has a “Make an Offer” button. I review every offer personally.

Will you remove producer tags or alter the beat?

Producer tags are not in anything you download — I just use those on the website for preview. Changes to the beat itself (re-arrangement, key change, tempo change) can be arranged separately, just contact me and let me know what you are thinking.

How long does a custom beat take?

Typical turnaround is 7–14 days depending on the request.
